Like with other selling websites such as eBay and Mercari, there are many ways to increase your visibility on the platform and help your Poshmark sales improve. To do this, one should be knowledgeable of the tricks that one can use to maximize all its potential. One of these tricks is by relisting your items. This will help you by increasing your closet exposure and giving your whole closet a makeover. With limited blogs and articles out there about the relist feature also known as Copy Listing on Poshmark, we at SuperPosher are here to help you learn and understand all about relisting.

What is Relisting on Poshmark?

Relisting simply means posting your existing items again. Before a seller tool update last year, relisting means Poshmark sellers will have to manually copy their old listed Poshmark item that is sitting on the bottom of the page of their account because no one has bought it yet. This is not something that you as a seller can edit and expect the item to have a better chance of selling. That is not the case in relisting back then.

Before, sellers input the details and upload photos manually, like how you post new items to your Poshmark account. You will also have to manually remove the old existing item if you want to ensure that it doesn't look like you're selling two same things. So, by doing this, the stale listings will appear on top of your closet again, making them categorized as a new listing that will be more visible to your followers, likers, and potential buyers.

Now, Poshmark has made relisting easy for all the posh sellers with the seller tool update by having a duplicate listing. At present, you can use the Copy Listing tool to post what seems to be a new item based on your previous posted listing.

To do this in the app:

  1. Select a listing that you want to be duplicated
  2. Select Edit
  3. Scroll to the bottom of the page
  4. Select Copy Listing
  5. Select Yes

On the web:

  1. Select a listing
  2. Select Edit Listing
  3. Scroll to the bottom of the page
  4. Select Copy Listing
  5. Select Yes

Once you have finished these steps, all the details and photos from your old listed item will be copied over to a new listing. However, if you want to tweak some details, such as product description or photos, you may do so by editing the item manually.

Why Relist?

Selling online isn't as simple as you think. There are many factors that sellers need to consider to achieve success and have more sales. Having a good practice of listing your items by having a catchy product title, a good photo of the item, and a detailed description is a great help in selling and attracting potential buyers to your closet, but you can do more, especially to your olds items by relisting them.

So why relist, you ask? Simple! Because there are many benefits when you relist your items. Some of which are:

  • It gives another chance for your old items to be sold. If you have items sitting in your closet for a long time, then relisting them can definitely help. Give it a new title, change its photos with a better one, and revamp your description. It can make a difference and make your item looks like a new item uploaded to your closet.
  • You can gain more likes. If your old item isn't getting any likes, then relisting it can give it more exposure again, which in turn can gain likes from the people who will see it as it will appear on the "Just In" section.
  • You can list depending on the season. If you sell clothes that are in season, chances are you will have higher sales. This goes the same with relisting. Your old items which you have listed from a previous season can be listed again when the same season rolls out. This way, you will be able to expose them again to your potential buyers.
  • You can put a better price. If you think that the previous listing price was too much, being the reason why no one is buying it, you can relist it and change the price to a lower value or vice versa. Just make sure to delete the old posting so you won't have to accidentally sell the old one and have to explain to the buyer why there are two listings with two different prices.

By relisting your items, it will go to the top of the "Just In" section, which means you are exposing your new item to a bigger audience. These people might be the ones who are following the brand or looking specifically for the brand and style where your new listed item falls under. This means that your items will get a higher chance of ranking above many other similar items, just like how search engine optimization works. Furthermore, when someone searches for a specific item, the search results will show your item for the reason that it is now a new inventory listed on the platform.

It is very unlikely that someone will randomly visit your closet and scroll all the way to the bottom where your old listings are. Remember that the interest of many buyers, whether they're a beginner or a veteran posher, is to see the new items. So, if you have just relisted, it will also appear as the newest item on the platform hence the higher chances of it being seen by many and potentially click it, which can convert to likes or, better yet, a sale.

Does Relisting improve sales?

While no one exactly knows how the Poshmark algorithm works, it acknowledges relisted items as new products, which will help you have a bigger and better audience. Of course, this gives you a chance to come across the right buyer for your items. Like other selling platforms such as eBay, Depop, Mercari, or even Facebook marketplace, the newer your listings are, the higher chance for it to be seen by a lot of people.

Additionally, many successfully sold items on Poshmark are from people who searched for a specific item or brand on the platform. With this, relisting your old items gives you a chance to use better titles, descriptions, and prices, which can make your listing more visible when poshers searched for specific brands or types of clothing and accessories. It is also a possibility that when people use the Google search button, your keywords might lead them to the platform when they use them to look for the items they want; hence relisting your items can contribute to increasing your sales.

Relisting versus Sharing

Sharing people's items is undeniably helpful, but you have to know the different impacts relisting can do on your items. When you share it, it goes to your follower's feed. Take note that the number of exposure your shared item will get depends on the number of followers you have. Your item can only achieve a higher chance of being visible to a bigger audience if and when your followers share it in their closet; that's the only time their followers can see it. Although Poshmark is a social platform, we cannot guarantee that your followers will share your shared items all the time. So the scope of your items' visibility can vary if you're just relying on shares. Furthermore, when you share your item, it will appear on top of the "Just shared" category, which is the default view when someone searches for a brand, but keep in mind that many buyers' interests are towards what's new and not what's shared.

Your relisted items have a higher chance of someone seeing them, liking them, and possibly even buying them when you just relist. Relisting items can make them appear on the top of the "Just in" category instead of "Just shared." so when people search for a brand they want, it is likely that they will want to see what's new, making you reach a bigger targeted audience.

How often should you relist?

The trick in relisting is to do it often. Poshmark does not charge any fees when you relist your items, so you can do this as often as you want, especially if you have many listings in your closet that have been sitting there for quite a while and you want them to be sold.

The frequency of relisting items really depends on a seller's preference as some prefer to do it when their listings did not sell after 60 to 90 days. But since the goal is to expose your items to a lot of audiences, you can relist your items as little as 30 days after you have uploaded them, and they are not yet bought in which SuperPosher can help you with.
